One of the best surprises about Bali has to be the standard of food and the variety that you see at the local cafes and restaurants. With menus that rival the cafe scene of uber cool Bondi, the creative streets of Surry Hills and the laneways of Melbourne, these food haunts would have foodie bloggers back home in a frenzy.

We scooter down the end of the laneway from our villa, and schimmy into the grand entrance of The Corner House. Interiors impeccable with an ease of grace and grandeur, it's a stylists dream to sit and take in the surroundings with the senses on overload and the kombucha flowing.

Our bellies rumbling from no dinner and a late night flight, we dive into the menu with gusto. Kale and quinoa scramble, or dragonfruit and chia seed smoothie bowl; perhaps the tofu scramble, a corn fritter stack or the good old favourite Eggs with soldiers and some home made sesame toast. We are in heaven, and that's only our first meal of the trip.
