TINT'S DIY TIPS AND WINTER COLOUR TRENDS

With winter well and truly on the way and more and more time spent indoors, it's the perfect excuse to give your home a well earned refresher and switch up the scenery. Winter is all about snuggling up on the couch, bringing out those fluffy slippers, a big warm throw, and keeping comfy - so we reckon you may as well add a little extra level of cosiness with colour - because no one wants to stare at a white wall! With easy how-to tips on ways to incorporate their range of warm tones into your home, Tint is committed to helping you creating your dream space.

Hygge - a Danish term that describes the quality of cosiness and comfort that creates contentment and promotes well-being.

It will come as no surprise that this concept was the inspiration behind one of Tint's paint names, and is a fairly constant undertone in the collection.

Head of Products at Tint, Alex Roberts, explains how our desire for comfort and return to natural materials has pushed us away from cool and stark colours, and instead toward warmer softer, hues. This subtle yet gradual transition is a major trend in recent years, with soft and warm neutrals, deep greens and rich clays expected to dominate the coming season.

"You will notice greys are becoming more greige (grey x beige), blues are bit dustier and greens a little dirtier and olive based. Beiges, greens and clays are the new neutral." - Alex Roberts, Head of Product, Tint

Roberts explains that layering different tones of similar hues is the ultimate way to tie a space together, and an easy way to provoke a sense of calm and create a welcoming environment.

Top tip:

We get it...colour can be daunting at first, but we also promise you'll never look back. Roberts suggests that the best way to introduce new colours into your space is to work with it in varying shapes and forms - painted surfaces, hardware, fabrics and art. Tying in hues and tones throughout your space creates a wholistic look, and will make the introduction of colour feel less stark.

How to start:

How many times have you put off a project? We will put our hands up and say we've been there, too! Painting a space is one of the easiest and most effective ways to transform it, so start by adding a little colour and warmth to your white walls. If you're not quite ready to commit to painting the whole room, another great way to change up a space is by bringing new life into an old piece of furniture.

Try repainting any old or worn pieces you might have lying around and layer similar hues into the rest of the space through art, linens, soft furnishings and collected objects. By switching up textures and natural materials, you can tie everything together and give your space a completely new feel.
