Who are you and what do you do?

Talent X is a People Agency - we are dedicated to the hiring, organising and management of teams. We are best known for our 89% hiring success rate and 12 month free replacement guarantee.

How did the business come about? I had been a consultant for a decade, helping companies from $200k - $130m turnover in 26 different industries get more from their businesses. I saw a huge need for accountability in recruitment and formulated and fine tuned our hiring process. I also saw a need for full-team services that address all issues that come with running teams.


Best career advice you have ever received? Go as far as you can see, then you’ll be able to see further. Don’t try to solve all career problems in one go, otherwise you’ll think yourself out of everything.


Worst advice you have ever received? Take the job with the most money.


What is one thing we should invest in for our business? Obtaining a TRUE understanding of the production output of your team and the ideal costs it would take to produce that. Surprisingly, for such a fundamental thing, most business owners don’t know this. You then end up with a team that could be making $1m only making $800k, being ‘overworked’ and then needing more hires…. 3 years down the track uncertain on why never making the money you know you could. Business owners need to know, down pat, the production output and the cost to do this. This is all about team design.


What is one thing you wish you had known when starting your business? How hard nailing a marketing campaign is. It takes a lot of money and time invested consistently across months to get it right.


What is your favourite part of your day to day ? I love working with clients to solve problems other recruiters couldn’t, or problems they’ve had for years. It doesn’t feel like work when you’re truly helping.


What was an unexpected joy of creating your business? The planning! I love planning and stopping to think “where do I want to go next? Where am I taking my team?” This is both joy and nerve.


Leave us with some words of wisdom ?

Nail your sales first. Then, once that is solved, focus on becoming an expert at teams - designing them, hiring them and making them work at production capacity whilst maintaining joy and engagement. THAT is the hidden skill of business.
