Chelsea Pottenger | EQ Minds - Keynote Speaker
Who are you and what do you do?
EQ MINDS was created to educate and empower people to prioritise and care for their mental health. We do this via keynote speaking, corporate workshops, our Podcast “Recharge Your Mental Health”, online self paced courses, and our social channels
How did the business come about? In 2015 Chelsea suffered PND which set her on a life change. Leaving a high flying corporate role, setting up EQ Minds, with the goal that nobody else would have to go through what she did.
Best career advice you have ever received? Invest in yourself
Worst advice you have ever received? Someone once told me that all I have is my personality and network. It lit a fire in my belly to prove them wrong. Plus its a pretty good place to start
What is one thing we should invest in for our business? Invest in a great calendar system. And the first calendar entry is making time to invest in yourself. If you burn out, everybody around you suffers
What is one thing you wish you had known when starting your business? I wish i had known about the amazing Stitch Agency team. They are our marketing team and they have changed my life. They have saved me so much time with all things, website, google, search engine optimisation and are just amazing to work with.
What is your favourite part of your day to day ? My favourite part of today is waking up at home. I travel alot for work, speaking all over the country. So when i wake up in my bed, with Clara my daughter staring at me with a big smile “wake up mummy” it makes my day.
What was an unexpected joy of creating your business? I get alot of people sharing their stories of recovery from a whole range of mental and physical challenges. Hearing the stories of them overcoming adversity really makes it all worthwhile. What i really enjoy about their stories is how they often recognise the importance of key relationships in their life. Where friends, family and sometimes strangers have had such a profound impact on their recovery.
Leave us with some words of wisdom ?
Don't wait until tomorrow to start what you can do today. So many people ask how i created EQ Minds and how the journey began. I like to say it started with the first tiny step. Followed by lots of missteps, failed steps but with each one i learnt something. It's been one hell of a journey.
