QUIET PERFECTION, WITH SEMINYAK'S ATMA VILLA

Bali is one of those places that suits many types of travel.

From five star hotels, to home stays, and everything in between.

When travelling with either one other person or as a small family, it's nice to have the luxury of staying in your own private place without it costing the earth.

No matter what we have planned for our Bali visits, I always find it helpful to have a place booked right from the start; it's good to have a base to head to and find your groove. It usually takes about three days for me to settle in, and so with that in mind we found the perfect first stop for our October TLSE Bali juant: Atma Villa, run by John and Duli at Vilorium.

Vilorium is based in the Bali beachside area of Seminyak; their villas range from one- to five-bedroom, most of which are located in the Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu areas. This gorgeously styled 2 bed villa with a pool, is close to the main district of shops, cafes and restaurant; it's ticked all the boxes for us to start our 3 week journey here.

It is always advisable to arrange your villa to collect you from the airport and take you straight home; arriving late at night, and having to find your way with Bali laneways and scarce street signage, has been known to ruffle the feathers of even the coolest of cats here. If you're game, the villa can also arrange a scooter for you to have ready; make sure you have your international licence on hand though, as the police are cracking down on tourists riding motorbikes (long story... tell you later...).

After a quick three days, the three of us were done; bags were packed and loaded into our little car as we made our own way to the next destination. Stay tuned for that too.
