While the south coast itself is no secret - some of the top spots and hidden gems to hit on your road trip definitely are. We've compiled a list of our must-stops next time you're meandering down south - everything from the best donuts you'll ever have, to an easy spot to stop for a fresh juice (you can thank us later). So, keep reading and start mapping out your next trip down south.

For the hungry...

Here at TLSE, we love nothing more than finding a good spot to stop and grab a bite - ESPECIALLY when that bite is deep fried and coated in cinnamon sugar. Here are our top stops for when you're making your way through the south coast:

The (infamous) Berry Donut Van - If you haven't been here before, you are in for a treat (in all senses of the word). When we say that these are the best donuts we've ever eaten, we aren't exaggerating. To say we haven't considered a day trip to Berry just to get some donuts would be a lie - so what better excuse to visit than when you're on your way down south anyway? You'll thank us later.
The Nook Juice Bar - What's better than a cold pressed juice after spending hours cooped up in a car? Huskisson's The Nook Juice Bar is definitely worth a visit while you're passing through - and is the perfect beverage to balance out those donuts.
The Huskisson Hotel - While you're in Huskisson, this pub is a must-stop. Every place has that one pub that takes the cake for the best food, drink and overall atmosphere, and the Huskisson Hotel is just that. While you can't go wrong with dinner at the pub, there's no doubt that some spots are better than others - so treat your tastebuds to a tasty meal and cold drop.

For the aspiring sommeliers...

We know what you're thinking, wineries and the Hunter Valley seem synonymous, while wineries and the South Coast seem mutually exclusive - but hear us out. On top of the endless, beautiful swim spots the South Coast has to offer, it also has some gorgeous wineries. Whether you're looking for some closer to the beach, or you're happy to endeavour a little inland - there are PLENTY to choose from. Here are some of our top picks:

Two Figs Winery - Located in Berry, this family-owned boutique winery crafts premium cool-climate wines (something you can't find up north). This winery takes advantage of the cooler climate to create unique and tasty wines, and is the perfect spot to spend a sunny afternoon.
Crooked River Wines - If you're looking for a vineyard with a view, this one's for you. Situated in Gerringong, Crooked River Wines is a family-owned winery with both mountain and ocean views, with both classics as well as innovative blends - so there's something for everyone.
Yarrawa Estate - For those looking to venture inland, Yarrawa is calling your name. All the way in Kangaroo Valley, this winery sets itself apart with the uniquely temperate climate and rich volcanic soil, creating the ideal environment for viticulture. With scenic scapes of mountains and valleys, this estate really is a sight for sore eyes, and the perfect excuse to head down south (even if it is a little bit of a detour from the coast).
