Reimagined Garden Social celebrates First Nations Artists and Cultures this weekend

As the weather starts to warm, it's natural that we are all starting to get out and about again. Restaurants and bars are bursting at the seams, and now outdoor events are back! After a half-year hiatus, The Garden Social returns reimagined for an extended weekend celebration of First Nations artists and cultures in The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney happening this Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August.

Overlook gorgeous Sydney Harbour views from the Tarpeian Lawn as you listen to relaxing tunes from First Nations performers, participate in progressive Indigenous artwork and dig into delicious winter warming food.

Immerse yourself in soulful tunes performed by Australia’s most impressive nine Indigenous musicians, including ARIA nominated singer, Christine Anu spreading her message of unity and hope, accompanied with the up-and-coming singer Breanna, renowned performer Pirritu and many more talented musical story tellers.

Whilst you revel in the beautiful melodies coming from The Garden Social stage, attendees can participate in traditional Indigenous crafts, progressive artworks and traditional demonstrations facilitated by Yibaay Wagaan Wiradjuri artists.

"It’s a real pleasure and a highlight of my professional career to be given this opportunity to perform at the Garden Social for NAIDOC Week. The line-up is incredible, and I am super proud to be one of the many First Nation artists who's performing at this event, " said guitarist and singer Jesse Manton.

Experience shared knowledge about Indigenous Weaving practices with local grasses in a traditional yarning circle, where you will have the chance to learn about the history of weaving and how the natural materials are culturally used.

Attendees can also make their artistic mark on the Warrane Community Connection Map artwork, which represents the connection between all the visitors to the Garden Social using Indigenous symbolism to show on the map where they live in relation to the Gardens. Acknowledging we live on Traditional Aboriginal land.

In true Social fashion, there will also be an open-air bar and delicious food trucks providing hearty eats including cheesy pizzas from Pizzaology, healthy Agape Organic nibbles, dramatic chicken from The Chicken Theatre and to finish, creative GelatoMania refreshments. These delicious bites can all be enjoyed on the lush green grass for a relaxed picnic or around the open space seating.
