CHRISTMAS COCKTAILS WITH COINTREAU

The only thing that makes a warm summer bearable is a cocktail in hand, right? If you're nodding your head in agreement, take out a pen and paper, 'coz you'll definitely want to take note of this recipe. With the festive season well and truly here, it's a great time to try out new (and tasty) recipes to cool you down on those warm afternoons - and let's face it - after the year we have all had, you've definitely earned it!

Ginger Margarita 20ml Cointreau

45ml Sierra Silver Tequila 20ml fresh lime juice 120ml Ginger Beer Lime wheel Shake ingredients with, and strain and pour into a chilled glass. Top with Ginger Beer and simply garnish with a fresh lime wheel. If you're REALLY looking to impress, you can garnish with some candied ginger or zest.

For the entertainers out there...

  1. Always have ice - this really will elevate the flavour of any cocktail, and is a great way to spruce up the aesthetic appeal. Try your hand at some fun ice trays for more intimate gatherings - check out our favourites here.

  2. Glassware - when done right, this can make a huge difference in terms of the wow factor. Try a tiki glass or pineapple shaker for something extra fun.

  3. Keep it simple - when in doubt, pre-mix! Save yourself that extra stress by pre-muddling for things like mojitos and simply just add the soda as your serve!

  4. Shaken not Stirred - never shake a fizzy drink (need we say more?)

  5. Tools of the trade - always keep a bottle opener and corkscrew on hand.

  6. Buy spirits that can multi-task - using something like Cointreau gives you much more flexibility - so you can mix up margaritas, cosmos, and daiquiris on the spot! Disaronno is a great alternative to a dessert when poured on the rocks or over vanilla ice-cream (YUM).

  7. Pre-squeeze Lime- buying pre-squeezed, fresh lime juice will save you so much time and effort - especially when it comes to margs. Dan Murphys is our top pick for this!

  8. Don't skip the dried fruit - if you're wanting to make any cocktail look fancy with minimal effort - dried fruit really is the way to go. Mary Valley Food is perfect for this!

So, invite your friends round for an afternoon barbecue and surprise them with one of these delicious cocktails!
