The Bali Travel Edit
For Australians, it's not exactly breaking news to hear that Bali is the perfect destination for a magical tropical holiday! This Indonesian island is home to so many different locations that provide a unique cultural experience, breathtaking scenery and luxurious amenities, and it isn't too far from home for us Aussies. From Seminyak to Ubud, Canggu and beyond, Bali has something for everyone - and our Heidi is about to jet-off for a couple of weeks to celebrate her 50th (and we aren't jealous at all. No, not at all.).
While she's there she'll be based in Seminyak and Ubud, but exploring all sorts of different places in between. Starting her trip in style, Heidi has booked a few nights at Alila in Seminyak. When travelling to Bali, make sure to bring plenty of light and airy clothing, as well as swimwear, a hat and sunscreen to keep yourself protected from the sun. If you’re planning on doing some yoga or surfing, don’t forget to bring your mat and board. To prepare for her trip, Heidi hand selected a few must-have products to travel with and I've compiled her essentials list below...
Luggage
First and foremost, let's talk about your suitcase. When travelling overseas, it's important to choose a sturdy, lightweight suitcase that's easy to manoeuvre. Look for one with plenty of compartments and pockets, so you can easily organise your belongings. A medium-sized suitcase should be enough for a week-long trip, but if you're planning on staying longer, consider upgrading to a larger size like the July Checked suitcase.
Next, you'll need a good sized handbag to use as carry on. Select something that's a good size so it will fit all your essentials - passport, wallet, phone, jumper in case you get chilly on the plane and (if you're bringing one) your laptop or iPad. The State of Escape Tote is the perfect choice for your carry-on handbag.
Consider packing a good quality cross bodybag to carry your essentials in when you're out and about exploring Bali, eating in restaurants or bar hopping. A lightweight, crossbody bag is a great option, as it will leave your hands free and keep your belongings safe. Clothing and accessories
When it comes to clothing, natural fibres are your best friend in Bali's hot and humid weather. Linen is lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying, making it perfect for the island's tropical climate. Skincare, haircare and makeup
Bali is a tropical destination, and light makeup is the best choice for this climate. Choose products with SPF protection, and opt for lighter foundation, blush, and eye makeup to keep your look light and breezy. However, when you're travelling, the recycled air on a plane can leave your skin feeling dry and itchy so it's important to include a hydration mist or face mask in your carry-on luggage as well. And don't forget your hair! The high humidity in Bali can make your hair extra frissy, so having something on hand to help smooth it out will be worth its weight in gold.
