DESIGN DUO ALISA AND LYSANDRA BRING THEIR SIGNATURE STYLE TO WAVERLEY PARK

Design duo Alisa and Lysandra Fraser brought their style to Mirvac’s iconicWaverley Park masterplanned community, styling the interiors of a contemporary new display home. The Block series, identical twins Alisa and Lysandra have carved out a successful career as interior design experts since winningThe Block: Sky High in 2013 and a subsequent third placing on The Block: Fans and Faves in 2014.

Briefed by Mirvac to blend timeless elegance with on-trend elements and pops of colour to complement the Banksia home’s design and soft colour palette, Alisa and Lysandra have created an inspired family haven that is luxurious, warm and welcoming.

Here we Interviewed the design duo to grab some of their favourite styling tips, around the Banksia Home, designed by Mirvac award-winning architects.

What are some of your favourite features of the space?

Our favourite room in Mirvac’s new Banksia home is the master bedroom – we love the sophisticated colour palette, and the variety of textures and layering give it a luxe feel as soon as you enter the space. The master bedroom is spacious, including an ensuite and walk-in-robe, and there’s plenty of natural light. We wanted to create a sense of opulence which is why we selected statement pieces such as the GlobeWest Taj Maroc Bone mirrors.

What's one of your favourite styling tips?

A key consideration when styling a home is to add layers and a variety of textures through the use of throws, cushions or floor rugs. When choosing your styling pieces, consider items that build on your existing colour palette or theme.

What kind of atmosphere have you tried to create here?

Mirvac has created a modern, architecturally designed home with a strong contemporary feel, so it was important to showcase and complement this in our interior styling. Strong colours such as navy and teal, tempered with warm greys and charcoals throughout the home give it a welcoming feel that creates an inspired and cosy family haven, with luxurious touches such as brushed gold throughout. The soft blush tones in the living room with plenty of greenery add a feminine feel.

What influenced your aesthetic when styling the Banksia Home?

We were influenced by the aesthetic of the Banksia home and the surrounding Waverley Park community which has lots of green, open space. The home is architecturally designed with a contemporary and timeless feel. As the home has been designed for an evolving family we wanted to create a style that was both aspirational and accessible.

How do you curate each different element when overseeing the interior styling?

The show-stopping, luxury furniture pieces were sourced from GlobeWest and Coco Republic. The home also features custom artworks and rugs from our own collection, and homewares from more accessible family brands including Adairs, Ikea, Provincial Home Living and Kmart.

What is the most challenging space in a home to style for you?

The living room can be a challenging space to style as it’s one of the most important rooms in your home. This is where you’ll spend most of your time, so it’s important to consider functionality and how you plan on using the space, both now and in the future. Mirvac's Banksia home has been thoughtfully designed with an open-plan living and dining room which is ideal for a family home, and was a great space to work with.

What are your finishing touches that make a house feel like a home?

We love using artwork through the home to inspire the colour palette and interior style of a room, and it does not always need to be expensive. There are so many affordable finishing touches that you can incorporate into your home such as scented candles, beautiful books, greenery and hand-glazed ceramics.
